Kim Kardashian's sweater choice for the 2024 Met Gala has become a hot topic!

During the event on Monday, May 6, Kardashian made her entrance onto the red carpet clad in a short, gray sweater designed by John Galliano. The sweater covered the top portion of her Maison Margiela corset dress.

Throughout her time on the carpet, Kardashian kept the sweater firmly wrapped around her shoulders, even as she conducted interviews and posed for photographs.

On social media, fans expressed their confusion regarding Kardashian's unconventional fashion decision.

"GURL!! If you don’t take off that TJ Maxx sweater!" one Instagram user commented, expressing their opinion on Kardashian's choice.

Another speculated, "I wonder if her dress was damaged and that’s why she wore that ugly cardigan to cover it."

A third observer shared, "For some reason, I feel she’s not comfortable in this look. She’s feeling insecure tonight."

However, Kardashian provided insight into her decision to wear the cardigan during an interview with Vogue on the carpet.

The "Kardashians" star revealed that she was aiming for a rushed, disheveled look after supposedly experiencing "the wildest night" of her life "in a garden."

"And I just ran out and grabbed my boyfriend's sweater and threw it on and had to get to work," she explained, laughing about the aesthetic she was attempting to convey. "My hair is all messed up."

In a video shared on Vogue's YouTube page on May 7, Kardashian revealed that the cardigan was indeed part of the original design of the dress. She explained that her inspiration came from a previous Maison Margiela show featuring corsets and sweaters, showing Galliano's sketch, which included the gray sweater.

Her look was influenced by this year's Met Gala theme, "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion," and the dress code, "The Garden of Time." Kardashian explained that she and Galliano brainstormed ideas based on their interpretation of the theme.

"We imagined having the best night of your entire life with your most magical person, waking up in a garden after oversleeping, and I'm just running out," she shared. "My dress is falling off because it was one of those nights, and I just grab my boyfriend's sweater to run off to where I have to be."

She humorously added that she often finds herself rushing off at the end of events to make it to "school carpool" the next morning, highlighting the intersection of glamorous events and everyday life.

Fans had mixed reactions to her look, with many marveling at Kardashian's slim waist.

"Did she get some ribs removed or what?!" one fan commented on her slender figure in the dress.

Another wondered, "Girl... slay. But where did you put all your internal organs???"

A third fan quipped, "Kimberly, where is your torso."

This wasn't Kardashian's first time wearing a form-fitting dress to the Met Gala. In 2019, she donned a skin-tight Thierry Mugler gown, struggling to sit comfortably due to its tightness. She also made headlines in 2022 when she arrived in the dress Marilyn Monroe wore to serenade President John F. Kennedy. Kardashian revealed she had lost 16 pounds to fit into the dress, employing strict diet and exercise regimens.

However, Kardashian's extreme weight loss methods drew concern from experts, who cautioned against practices like wearing a sauna suit and extreme dieting due to potential health risks, particularly for those with underlying medical conditions. Registered dietitian Frances Largeman-Roth emphasized the importance of working with professionals to achieve weight loss safely.
